Situates 76 km from Braşov, 16 km from Târgu Secuiesc, at the foot of the Carpathians, on the national road 11, at the boundary of Transylvania and Moldova. It is an ancient Transylvanian settlement. Breţcu is the nearest place to the Oituz Pass, having  amazing landscapes and magnificent mountains and fragrant valleys, according to the old documents and oral traditions the locality is known under the name of the Oriental Gate of Transylvania.
